After Nokia it’s Microsoft time to play

No matter how much money they make from their products hi – tech developers never forget the importance of playing. Microsoft has kicked off proceedings at this year's Game Developer Conference in San Francisco by announcing a new 512MB memory unit for the Xbox 360, as well as upping the size limit for Live Arcade games.
The new memory will be available from 3rd April for US$ 49.99, and for a limited amount of time will be pre-loaded with EG fav Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved. The existing 64MB stick will also drop to US$ 29.99. UK and European pricing details have yet to emerge.
This new hardware will accommodate the increased girth of Live Arcade titles, which will move from a 50 MB limit up to 150 MB - effective immediately.
There's been much speculation this year about whether Microsoft would make this move, particularly after Castlevania: Symphony of the Night proved too big to be shoehorned into the existing Arcade restrictions.

EU talks tighter Budgets for Latvia, Bulgaria and Romania

The EU is not all honey for countries that do not keep up with their economic schedule. EU budget rules -- the Stability and Growth Pact -- say that during economic good times, countries that have not yet achieved their medium-term budget position should cut deficits by at least 0.5 percentage point a year until they reach the target. This is the case with Romania, Bulgaria and Latvia. Latvia has experienced during the last couple of years a phenomenon of economic heating with a 10 percent growth per year, which might prevent it from reaching its budgetary goals.
Bulgaria, which joined the EU in January with Romania, should try to achieve a higher budget surplus to contain macroeconomic risks from the country's ballooning current account deficit.
In spite of the economic misleads foreign investors seem to consider the Eastern European markets as rewarding assets. This is the case with The Foundry Schools who will soon start the “Be a Part of It” promotional tour in Eastern Europe. The Foundry School which i am currently attending offers training courses for PR practitioners, translators and computer engineers. It is a training, research and development center working on behalf of SigEx Inc. The revolutionary platform it uses for communication is based on the SuperPBX concept. Win-Win game for YouTube and BBC

It seems that the deal between BBC and YouTube turned out to be a success story for the both sides. BBC will gain access to the millions of users of YouTube and YouTube will share some of the legendary aura surrounding BBC. Moreover the BBC will be able from now on to closer peek into the habits of its viewers and adopt more appropriate marketing policies. It is great indeed to see venerable BBC coming out on the market with a fresh scent of digital broadcasting. BBC Director General Mark Thompson said the broadcaster hopes to drive extra traffic to its own Web site and bring in commercial revenue to supplement the license fee levied on British taxpayers.
"It's essential that the BBC embraces new ways of reaching wider audiences with non-exclusive partnerships such as these," he said.

The Stock market grows ever more unstable

The sun doesn’t seem to shine on Wall Street since last week. The stock slide that started off in China to hit Europe and US later continues with the fall from the Japanese stock market. "If New York continues to slide and the yen continues to strengthen at this pace, there is no bottom in sight for Japan," said Kirby Daley, a strategist at brokerage Fimat in Tokyo. A near 9 percent slump in China's main stock index last Tuesday, combined with worries about stalling U.S. growth, sparked a wave a selling in world equity markets, many of which had been trading around record highs.
Australian stocks fell 2.3 percent to a seven-week closing low, erasing all their gains for 2007, with the world's largest miner, BHP Billiton, dropping 2.9 percent.
Share indexes in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore lost between 3 and 4 percent and South Korea's benchmark fell 2.7 percent. The worst thing is the fact that nobody knows the reason behind the price drop. Yes it is the fear that the US economy might enter a recession but is this enough of a reason? "This is not like September 11, when there was a clear issue, so the sell-off was reasonable," said Lim Chang-gue, a fund manager at Samsung Investment Trust Management in Seoul.
"Something bad seems to be happening, but there is no one clear reason. It's this unknown that is making it worse so people are just selling out."
In spite of the price shake affecting the stock markets SigEx Ventures registered a steady increase in share price, which makes it a trustworthy investment. SigEx Ventures, Inc., a private equity investment fund headquartered in Sarasota, Florida, primarily invests in first round funding for advanced technology companies. Watch Videos on your I-Luv Ipod

Converting video for use on an iPod or PlayStation Portable is often time-consuming and complex. The iLuv i182 is meant to change that. This dock connects to any source with an S-video port and records television (and other video and audio) directly to the iPod’s hard drive. An attachable SD and MemoryStick card reader can also save video for use in the PSP portable game system or other video players. The i182 will be available this month for $229 at www.i-luv.com and in stores. It records at 640-by-480 pixel resolution for iPods and 720-by-480 pixel resolution for the PSP and other devices. The device can be set to stop recording at a preset time, so you can turn it on — at, say, the beginning of “Lost” — and let it record for later consumption.
The recordings are encoded specifically for each playback device and are immediately available once recording is complete.
Unfortunately, you still need to initiate the recording manually, so the iLuv i182 isn’t a replacement for a TiVo.
